Why Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional therapy is a science and evidence based approach to wellbeing that uses nutrition and lifestyle interventions to restore and maintain health. Food is fuel and as such it’s action is both corrective and preventative hence Nutritional therapy’s primary focus is ‘Food as Medicine’.

Biochemical individuality is the essence of this approach, we are all unique and as such require a tailored protocol to address our symptoms and goals. Nutrition programmes target the underlying cause of conditions such as digestive disorders, symptoms and pathologies relating to hormone imbalance, immune regulation, pain, fatigue and many chronic conditions such as inflammatory bowel diseases, diabetes, arthritis and obesity.

Modern life is fast paced and the impact on our bodies is further exacerbated by our lifestyle choices and environment. Nutritional therapy treats the whole person assessing their dietary, physical, emotional, genetic and lifestyle requirements. Initial consultations involve a ‘deep-dive’ into the client’s medical history, family history, diet, lifestyle, available GP/functional test results and a detailed discussion to ascertain the client’s key concerns and priorities.

The media bombards us with confusing and often conflicting diet and supplement advice which results in many people flipping in and out of food and lifestyle fads, never sure quite what works for them. Nutritional therapy takes us back to the science and focuses entirely on the unique individual in question.

Many of Nutritional therapy’s principles are rooted in traditional or ancient remedies now advocated by contemporary research. However, the breadth of functional and genetic testing available now provides a level of detail and accuracy that can be truly life changing.
